Make-A-Wish Foundation® Singapore’s mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experiences with hope, strength and joy. It is their goal to grant a wish to every medically eligible child in Singapore. Working towards that are over 200 volunteers, 10 board members and 6 staff. Their combined efforts, coupled with the support of the generous and much-valued sponsors and supporters brings them closer to that goal every day.
Wish Eligibility
If the child is Singaporean or PR, between the ages of 3 and 18 and has a life-threatening medical condition then he or she will be eligible for a wish.
Their referral sources include:
• Medical professionals treating the child, such as doctors, nurses, or social workers
• A parent or legal guardian of the potential wish child
• The potential wish child
• Friends of the family- so long as the parents have been informed.
In Singapore
Since the launch of our affiliate in 2003, Make-A-Wish has granted over 500 magical wishes.
Fundraising
As a non-profit organisation, Make-A-Wish is constantly seeking to raise more funds so that they can grant 9-11 wishes each month and meet their goal of reaching every medically eligible child in Singapore.
2010 Plans
Make-A-Wish’s challenge is to increase the number of wishes granted, funds raised, corporate adoptions, awareness and outreach events year on year.
