This girl’s love for music started when she was still in her mom’s womb. No kidding… She would only stop kicking her mom when she sticks headphones onto her tummy and pipe music for her unborn baby to wiggle to. Frankly, she dreamt of being a singer when she was only few feet tall but dropped the idea when her parents literally begged her to stop cracking all the mirrors and annoy the neighbours with her singing.
Desiree discovered the joys of radio during her teenage years. But instead of being crazy over cheesy 90s boy bands, this former 987 groupie scratched her way towards making her dream of being in Radio come true. That didn't come easy mind you, as she tried two times prior and Desiree is one that doesn't take rejection easy. Her friends can attest to that and those poor things have the scars to prove it.
Her lucky break came after completing her 2 year studies in Brisbane, Australia with a Bachelor in Creative Industries. One week after arriving back in Singapore, she signed up for the 987 Control DJ Championships and her life changed dramatically ever since.
Desiree is often mistaken as mixed blood and is still amused by it. She's pure Chinese but ironically, she is quite hopeless in Mandarin and her dialect. Well, at least she knows how to order food and give directions. Born and bred in Singapore and proud of it, don’t be stunned if she brings out her inner ah lian or minah from within.
"Real as real can be"; that is what she'll describe herself. Desiree refuses to be something that she isn't, so what you hear on radio, is all her. And if you do meet her, don't let her nonchalant and tough demeanor fool you. She's really a soft teddy bear on the inside. Get to know her and let Desiree be your favourite late night buddy.
