• The film is about a Viking teenager called 'Hiccup', voiced by Jay Baruchel, who is disliked bby his tribe because of his cleverness and offbeat sense of humour.

• Hiccup's father, 'Stoick the Vast', the tribe's chief (voiced by Gerard Butler), does not know that to do with his son, so he sends Hiccup into Dragon Training, hoping to bring out the man in him.

• Hiccup ends up setting his dragon free, and they forge a strong bond. He inevitably tries to persuade the Vikings that dragon slaying is not necessary.
